Wolves In The Woods
What is Wolves in the Woods?
Come and join with your little ones in our 75 minute Pay As You Feel outdoor play sessions.
Enjoy, explore and learn about the world around them with:
- Lightly themed outdoor play opportunities centred around a short story
- Space for caregivers to talk and play with your little one
- Space for children to explore varied play activities to support their development with their own resource baskets
- Limited capacity to help create a calm environment

Sessions are Pay As You Feel in 2024 with support from National Lottery Community Fund
Activities are aimed at under 7s, taking inspiration from outdoor settings and most importantly, are fun! Younger babies are welcomed too with sensory baskets available.
Your little ones will have chance to play independently, imaginatively and follow their curiosity in a safe haven of the gated woodland area in Boundary Way Community Garden in Warstones and Gatis Community Space in Whitmore Reans.
“Absolutely fantastic staff and amazing place for children to play and get involved with nature. I have been looking for something like this for my son and I’m so pleased to have come across this lovely play session. Thank you for all the hard work you all put into it.”

Capacity and Environment
There are limited spaces so booking is essential – choose your Wolves in the Woods session and book above. We cannot guarantee a space if you haven’t reserved in advance.
These sessions take place in Gatis Community Space’s woodland areas with natural areas and uneven ground. Risk Assessments are in place and responsibility of little ones lies with their caregivers at all times.
We advise you to bring and wear clothes suitable for outdoors – including the unpredictable British weather! There are limited shelters for rainy weather and will only cancel playing if it is unsafe.
Structure of sessions
Wolves in the Woods sessions begin with a short time gathered together, singing, reciting rhymes and listening to a story to lightly link to today’s theme. We gather together again to close the session with a song and say goodbye.
In between there are activities and natural areas to explore, discover, allowing hands-on learning in a natural environment which is gated off, safe and a haven within the city.
In each session you will find:
- Mud kitchen
- Den materials
- Natural craft materials
- Mark making, such as mud painting
- Log seating area
- Insect habitats and bug collecting resources
- Shelter in case of bad weather
We are a community organisation with a passion for play!
